Reasons to Love Osaka

Going to Osaka, Japan

Traveling to new places can be nerve-wracking, but it can be filled with adventures. Now if you are thinking about going to Asia,  you will surely be confused. But there are some popular places you can begin with and find authentic, affordable items and souvenirs.

Upon asking my Facebook friends, I received a hefty recommendation for Osaka. And that’s what we are going to talk about.

Disclaimer: All the information you will read is based on a businessman’s experience. This may or may not work for you but of course, you can always give it a try

What were your reasons for choosing Japan?

Everywhere, there’s  Japanese influence. Japanese food such as sushi and instant noodles are some examples. There are also animes and dramas so I got curious. Personally, I wanted to see anime stuff. Basically, I chose Japan because of my cultural curiosity. Although I wish there was a cosplay event when I went, sadly, there’s none at the time.

Things to do in Osaka:

There’s a lot of activities or places you can visit. Dotonbori is a great choice if you want to enjoy Osaka. In Osaka, you will find Namba. It is located in the Southern part of Osaka. This is the best place for fashionistas because they can find the latest bags or clothes.

Shinsaibashi – this is where you will find the iconic billboard that was places there over 70 years ago. Halfway through Dotonbori, there’s a bridge and a river. On the other side, you will find buildings that are exclusively for known brands like Uniqlo, Under Armor and more.

Next is the Osaka Castle. It is a popular tourist spot.  No need to spend too much. From the airport, you can spend about 1000 Yen collectively. They requested to be picked up at the Shinsaibashi station and went directly to Osaka Castle afterwards.

Universal Studios – This is where they saw Harry Potter stuff. They had 3 options:

  1. Special ticket which includes 1 ride per attraction – Php 20,000 (estimated) or 40,000 Yen.
  2. Limited – only Php 10,000 with limited rides
  3. Gold Ticket – which is higher.

Souvenirs:

If you are looking for souvenirs, you can find affordable souvenirs from the famous Don Quijote shops. You will surely find great reviews about Don Quijote shops on TripAdvisor. They have cheap, authentic Japanese items. It is like the Daiso store that we have in the Philippines.

Were there Cherry Blossoms when you went there?

For this part, they found Cherry Blossoms, but not in Osaka so you can read more about that in my other poss, “Where can I find Cherry Blossoms?”.

Visa Tips:

Despite being an Asian, there are some countries that still require a visa. A good example of that is Japan. It is very important to have your credentials ready in order for you to travel to your dream country. It is best to have supporting documents such as your tax return file, business details, and a bank statement. In Jet’s experience, he was able to get a multiple-entry visa.

Again, thank you Jet for your contribution. 🙂

So there you have it. Jet will be giving more details about landing a visa and suggested itineraries for you. That will be in another post. “Tips for Getting a Japanese Visa for Filipinos” and “Suggested Japan Itinerary for You”.

See you!
